Constructions in Concert
Works by Joyce Melander-Dayton

Textile Center Joan Mondale Gallery has the pleasure of exhibiting Constructions in Concert, works of fiber art by Joyce Melander-Dayton March 2 through April 14, 2012.

A native of Minnesota, Joyce Melander-Dayton recently began a journey that incorporates fiber into her work. An accomplished painter, Melander-Dayton became intrigued with the possibilities of fiber and began exploring an expanded artistic vision. Using time honored techniques, Melander-Dayton discovered a new-found freedom in dimensional design. Though labor intensive, the work has become more intuitive and surprisingly liberated. In this digital age, Melander-Dayton strives to bring traditional media to 21st century relevance, with the perception that we create the future with an understanding and appreciation of the past.

Textile Center is a national center for fiber art whose mission is to honor textile traditions and promote excellence and innovation. It achieves these goals through exhibitions of local and nationally known fiber artists, learning opportunities in fiber art skills for adults and youth, access to a lending library dedicated to publications and visual media in textile arts, a facility for convening of fiber artist groups and guilds and a retail venue through which fiber art is offered for purchase.
